openprovider: best of 2024

As 2024 comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on a year filled with milestones, growth, and innovation. Celebrating twenty years in the domain industry, this year has been all about growth and progress—both within our company and beyond. Join us as we take a look back at the highlights that defined Openprovider’s best of 2024.

20 years of Openprovider

This year marked a significant milestone as we celebrated our 20th anniversary. At the heart of this celebration were the customers and team members who have driven our growth over the years. We launched a new customer recognition series on our blog, sharing the stories of some of the incredible people who’ve been with us throughout this journey. (If you’re a customer and would like to be featured, reach out to your account manager!)

Meanwhile, in September, we brought our remote team together in Dubai for four unforgettable days of connection and celebration. For many, it was their first in-person meeting ever, and the experience strengthened our bonds as colleagues.

While we took time to celebrate, our growth continued with 35 new hires this year, including our COO, CTO, and Head of Sales. We’re also proud of our eNPS score of 63 for 2024, a reflection of how much our team enjoys being part of Openprovider. Our efforts were rewarded with an FD Gazelle International award, awarded to the 78 fastest-growing Dutch companies with an international presence.

New ccTLD accreditations

At Openprovider, we’re committed to offering the most comprehensive selection of TLDs in the market. As part of this mission, we continue to expand our portfolio of ccTLD accreditations. Following successful accreditations for .hk and .ai in 2023, we’ve added .ca and .nz in 2024. This means Members can now register these domains at cost price. We aim to continue adding more accreditations to our portfolio in 2025, with a focus on developing markets in Asia and Latin America.

Updates to our WHMCS module

In Q2, we launched an enhanced version of our WHMCS module, which is now fully compatible with PHP 8.1 and features several key improvements. Our WHMCS lead, Sarath, showcased these updates in a well-attended webinar, the recording of which you can access here. Building on this progress, we have an even more advanced version currently in beta testing. To participate, please contact your account manager.

Security first: ISO27001 renewal and NIS2 Directive

After becoming ISO27001 certified last year, we are proud to announce that we successfully renewed our certification in 2024. The renewal process involved a rigorous audit of our information security management system, performed by an independent third-party auditor. The auditor assessed our security policies, procedures, and controls against the ISO 27001 standard’s requirements. Based on the results of this audit process, our certification was renewed.

Besides this, we have worked hard to prepare for the effects of the NIS2 Directive, which has and will strongly reshape the European cybersecurity landscape – particularly, when it comes to our industry, regarding ccTLDs. Our product and tech teams have been working hard to prepare our systems for these upcoming changes. You can find the full overview of changes to come on the security section of our blog.

Control panel migration

In Q3, we finished moving all pages within the Reseller Control Panel from Angular to React, which has significantly improved the speed and user experience of the panel. Currently, we are in the research phase of a larger project to move our entire infrastructure to new servers, which will help enhance control panel speed even more.

Openprovider and the world

At Openprovider, our reach goes beyond the borders of our company. This year, our sales and product teams attended a range of major industry events, like ICANN81, Domain Days Dubai, and CloudFest. As a fully remote company, these events form important opportunities to connect face-to-face with our partners, suppliers, and customers, strengthening relationships and building new ones in the offline world.

Meanwhile, our commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals drives us to make a positive impact even beyond the domain industry. This year, we supported an impactful development project in Ghana and collaborated with Offlimits to help combat the proliferation of child sexual abuse material on the Internet.

Conclusion

At Openprovider, 2024 was a year of celebration, growth, and laying the groundwork for an even brighter future. Every step we took this year reflected our commitment to our Members, colleagues, industry partners, and the broader industry. As we look ahead to 2025, we remain focused on delivering more value, innovation, and impact in everything we do. Here’s to another year of shared success!
