open_FR_NEWSRegistry AFNIC, managing the extensions .fr, .re, .pm, .tf, .wf and .yt, has announced a simplification of its process to change the holder of a domain name. Such a so-called “trade” operation currently requires both the current and new holder to confirm the trade by clicking on a link. It is a paid operation and the registration period of the domain name is reset.

As from the 12th of December, 2016, a change of holder will become as simple as any other domain update. Updating the domain name to a new owner contact is sufficient. No more fees are involved, and the domain’s expiration date is unchanged.

Of course, you are still required to obtain both holders’ confirmations before initiating a trade, but once you have this confirmation, the change itself will be a quick and simple process.
