If you’ve been waiting for a fresh, targeted domain extension tailored to content creators and publishers, your moment has arrived!
Starting in February, you’ll be able to register .channel domains through Openprovider!
Here’s everything you need to know about this new TLD.
.channel: a secure, monetized namespace
One of the most exciting (and important) aspects of .channel is that it’s part of a secure, monetized namespace. This means:
- HTTPS requirement: All .channel websites must use HTTPS. Because .channel is on the HSTS preload list, browsers will only connect if a valid SSL certificate is installed.
- Monetization requirement: .channel isn’t just any domain – it’s designed specifically for creators and publishers who want to monetize their content – making it particularly suitable for Gen Z content creators, influencers, and entrepreneurs. By registering a .channel domain, you agree to the .channel registration policy, which requires that each domain hosts a monetization-focused website.
Key dates, phases, and prices
.channel will go through the following phases at Openprovider:
- Early Access Period (EAP): February 4, 2025, 17:00 CET – February 11, 2025, 16:59 CET.
- General Availability (GA): starting February 11, 2025, at 17:00 CET.
During the Early Access Period, you will have a special 7-day window to grab premium .channel domains before General Availability begins. If you miss EAP, don’t worry. General availability follows immediately afterward!
