On January 24, 2024, five new top-level domain extensions (TLDs) entered their Sunrise Phase: .diy, .food, .living, .lifestyle and .vana. All five domain extensions will be available at Openprovider. In this article, you will learn more about each new domain extension, plus practical information about launch phases, registration requirements, and pricing.
Who are these TLDs for?
.diy is a domain extension for those who love to craft, build, and make. Whether you are creating a website for your business or simply sharing the things you make with your audience online, .diy is a great fit!
.food was created for everyone in the food industry: from supermarkets, restaurants, and chefs to food bloggers sharing their favorite spots with their audiences online. It is also a great choice for educational websites about nutrition.
.living and .lifestyle are two closely related TLDs for anyone creating lifestyle content online or running a business about lifestyle. From health or travel to interior design, these extensions are great picks for a wide variety of niches!
.vana is a blockchain domain. The first of its kind, this domain seamlessly integrates with both the Domain Name System (DNS) and the Web3 space, while following all the rules and regulations set by ICANN. This sets it apart from existing Web3 domain extensions, that are not available at regular domain registrars like Openprovider. Best of all, it is suitable for anyone, as you do not need any specialized APIs or blockchain knowledge to register a domain name with this extension.
How do I register my domain?
The launch of these five domain extensions will be held in three phases: Sunrise Phase, Early Access Period (EAP), and General Availability. If you are not familiar with these terms, this practical guide explains the different launch phases of new TLDs.
Registrations during the Sunrise Phase are only open to holders of TMCH-verified trademarks. To register your own or your customers’ trademark(s) during the Sunrise Phase, this is what we need from you:
- SMD file from TMCH.
- Domain name(s) to register.
- Acknowledgment of Sunrise pricing, as seen in the table further down this article.
After the Sunrise Phase is finished, registrations will be open to anyone on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To register a domain name, it should be between 1 and 63 characters in length. You can register a domain name with any of these TLDs for anywhere between 1-10 years.
