On October 13, the new .giving TLD has started its Sunrise Phase. It is now possible to register your trademarks through our Control Panel.
.giving is a new domain extension that belongs to the new “family” of .org domains. PIR (Public Interest Registry), the registry of .org, has announced this year that they are aiming to extend their offer of domain in order to give people more options within a competitive domain market. Besides .org, .ngo, and .ong, which they already owned, they have acquired .foundation, .charity, and .gives and are now launching .giving.
Just like PIR’s other TLDs, .giving is an excellent choice for websites of non-profit organizations and corporate social responsibility programs. For example, you can use a .giving domain name to highlight the good that your company is doing in the world, for fundraising initiatives or particular campaigns.
There will be no special requirements in place to register a .giving domain name. Domain names can be between 1 and 63 characters in length and can be registered for a period between 1 and 10 years. 1- and 2-character names will be available at a premium price. IDN registrations are expected to be permitted – we will share more information about this in a later phase.
