Have you ever been curious to meet the people behind the domains? In this series of blog posts, we are introducing you to various members of our global, fully remote team.
This week, we are introducing you to Jayani (33), our Lead QA Engineer.
Tell us something about yourself!
I am Jayani Thilakarathna and I am working as a Lead QA Engineer at Openprovider. I live in Sri Lanka. I like to live an exciting and adventurous life, and I enjoy activities like hiking, camping, diving, kayaking, and paragliding to push myself to expand my mind and bravery. It makes me a better version of myself every time. I also love to paint and read in my free time.
What does an average day in your role look like?
I am a mother to a four-year-old, so I start my day as a crazy lady who tries to beg my kid to go to school 😀 My workday starts with checking emails and going through assigned tasks. Most of the time we have a team call to get aligned with my fellow QA engineer. After that, I make myself a nice coffee and get back to work. My child knows around what time I’ll be off of my laptop, so I spend the rest of the day with him. God knows how he knows that, because he cannot read the clock yet!
Which achievement (of yourself, your team, or the company) are you most proud of?
I am really proud that we have a QA team in Openprovider. As a small team, we have been able to achieve recognition and level up the quality of our releases.
What are your favorite things about working remotely? And is there something you like less about it?
At first, I was a bit bored with working remotely. However, it gave me time to do adventurous stuff in my free time, like hiking and camping. I also started new hobbies like journaling and painting. Most importantly, I can spend more time with my family and friends, which is a huge advantage. I love working remotely now and cannot think about working in an office, haha!
What do you like the most about working at Openprovider?
I like the diversity of the colleagues in Openprovider. We are all over the world, and every day we get to know each other through donut meetings. Another thing I like is the flexibility that Openprovider provides to their employees. We can all work in a much less stressful environment in which we can bring the best out of ourselves. The management is also very helpful and always thinks about the best interest of the company as well as the employees.
